Our Mission Statement

As the Houston-area affiliate of the national Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry (OCPM), OCPM-Houston is committed to sharing the love, hope, and healing of Jesus Christ with those impacted by incarceration. Through prison visitation, faith formation, family outreach, correspondence, and re-entry support, we serve incarcerated individuals and their families while helping transform lives through the love of Christ. Learn more about the national ministry at theocpm.org.

One of our most cherished initiatives is the annual Advent Gifting Event, which brings joy and encouragement to children with an incarcerated parent during the Christmas season. In 2025, we were blessed to serve 115 children, providing each child with needed clothing, a cherished toy, and a day filled with lunch, games, activities, and pony painting. Through the generosity of our donors and volunteers, these children and their caregivers experience the love of a caring community and the hope of Christ during the Advent season.

We believe that ministry extends beyond prison walls and that supporting families strengthens communities and restores hope for future generations. Whether you are seeking opportunities to volunteer, support local outreach efforts, pray for those affected by incarceration, or learn more about our ministry, we invite you to join us in answering Christ's call to serve "the least of these."

Meet Fr. David Companik

For many years, Fr. David Companik has been a guiding presence in OCPM-Houston's prison ministry. Through regular visits to correctional facilities, Orthodox study groups, prayer services, and personal encouragement, he helps build meaningful relationships with incarcerated men and women seeking spiritual growth and renewal. His commitment to seeing every person as a beloved child of God inspires our ministry's work both inside prison walls and among the families we serve.
